It's a free market economy: If you don't like your employer, go
somewhere else or start your own business. I did that several times
until finding a good fit between my expectations and an employers
willingness to pay for skills. You just have to find a place where
you're appreciated, and that place is not necessarily going to be in
your old hometown.
