Bit of bad news.

My brother in NC had to be taken to the hospital for difficulty breathing last week
while I was in Holland. Diagnosis was pneumonia and acute renal failure. He is now on
oxygen full time. Don't know if he'll be able to get off of it once the pneumonia is
cleared up. Will ride down today to spend the weekend with him.
FWIW, once diagnosed with lung cancer, he stopped smoking, only to start with the
e-cigarettes. Doctor said those were not at all good for him.
Sorry to hear of your brother's situation. Renal failure isn't a good
sign and usually means the body is shutting down. I'd be prepared for
the worse as I am sure you are.
The renal failure was temporary. The kidneys are working again. But, the breathing is
much worse, even with the oxygen .
That's good that the kidney problem was temporary. One thing I learned
with both my mother and both my wife's mother and father was signs of
acute renal failure. Their hands and feet developed blue splotches that
didn't respond to oxygen or medicine. Of course, they were much older
and going through the natural process of shutting down.
