I've been in and owned a good number of two seater sports cars, but this
new Corvette was the first one that I thought was "boatlike" in terms of

car for a "fun" driver, you can do a lot better, I think.

What do you suggest? I agree with you on the styling of the new
'vette but it is an awful lot of raw power for the price, about the
same as a decent performance runabout.
A lot of old guys kill themselves in Corvettes however because their
reflexes are not good enough to deal with the power on tap. Maybe you
*should* get one.
I owned a 2008 Vette, and it was my daily driver for 3 years. With all the nanny features turned on, it's actually not easy to get it out of shape. For example, from a stand-still you can stomp on the gas and it will barely squawk the tires. Put it in "competition mode" however, and it's a completely different story.
Vette's are the best bargain in high performance sports cars. Are there faster cars available that handle better, have better brakes and steering, and are better looking? Of course there are. Just not anywhere close to the price of a Vette.
It was fun, but I got tired of it, so I'm back in an A6.
