My wife picked up her P238 yesterday.
The P238 is much easier for her to pull the Slide.
She had a difficult time pulling the slide with my Ruger LCP.
Shes small, 89 lbs when we married. ;-)
The trigger is light compared to anything, but, especially to my LCP.
The P238 is very slightly wider and about 1/4" longer.
The P238 just feels like a more substantial gun.
It feels better in your hand, I like the trigger position better.
It is not quite as easy to wallet holster carry as the LCP.
However, I haven't explored possible wallet holsters yet.
The P238 is a nicer gun but, it does cost more than twice as much.
So I would expect that.

A pocket holster I like, but you would not want to have a bunch of dirt in your
pockets.

I have one like that ... in fact I think it's the same one.
Used it with the S&W Bodyguard pistol I had.
Good quality but I don't like the idea of an open barrel end
in a pocket holster for the reasons you stated. The one I use
for the Sig P238 is sewn shut.

The solution:

....or keep pockets semi-clean.
