"Most of the model airplanes in the magazines and catalogs give the
wingspan in mms. For cms, convert
to mms, divide result by 100, then multiply result by 4. Mentally less
cumbersome than dividing by
2.5, although converting 2.5 to a fraction, 5/2 and then multiplying by
2/5 is pretty easy."

So..since we always measure snow in centimeters...we divide our
centimeters by 10 and then multiply by four to get your inches. That
might be slightly quicker when dealing with odd numbers.

"Get yurself a yardstick. We (Americans) don't care about Ms MMs or CMs."

I haven't seen a yardstick in at least 30 years. Used to be a common
thing in hardware stores up to the mid '60s.
Somewhere I have metal meter ruler. Funny, when Trudeau brought in the
metric system it was supposedly to bring us in line with the rest of the
civilized world. Who could have guessed that the mighty ' merica would
stay so backwards.

Why throw insults? Look at the problems your motherland, the UK, is having with its various
measuring systems.

A Canadian calling America backwards is suffering from mistaken identity,
especially one who can't
spell America.

Hell, England had Wentworth. Needed Wentworth to wrench on the Triumphs.

.... and BA.
All I know about that is a #2 BA is 5/16 of an inch.
(One of our guys was a Scotsman and he always used his favorite 2 BA
"spanner" on some pesky 5/15" head screws IBM was slow to provide a
tool for)
