This is the view I saw on TV during the speech.

Aparently there's a few folks that want to hear what President
Trump says.

There was definitely a pot full. Shame it was on a workday.

In all honesty the DC bureaucrats and federal apparatchiks in the
"triangle" get that day off. They can usually still park in their
federal spots and pee in the building if things have not changed tho
So they do add to that crowd.
For the folks who are working on the street (everything from cops to
sanitation) it is all hands on deck along with anyone else in
"Infrastructure or security".

It has never occurred to me to actually go to a cluster **** like that
tho.
When I was young enough to be impressed by that I knew I was a block
and a half from the white house 5 days a week and I could see the
president ride buy in a car just about any time I wanted.
I never went down to the mall for the fireworks either.

I spent over six years working inside the beltway. Hit the 4th of July
fireworks a couple times but
never, as you say, such a cluster **** (should that be two words or one?).

But, now I don't have a pussy hat to adorn my basement wall.

****.

I lived in DC for 38 years, went to school downtown for 5 and went to
a few big events but not many. The fireworks trick used to be to rent
a canoe down there near the wharf and paddle down a ways. The
fireworks are better on the water anyway. If you went around the south
side you missed most of the traffic going in and you paddled up to 3
sisters to wait out the traffic going out. I think midnight was the
cut off for returning the canoe.

We did the boat thing in a 15' Whaler. Loads of fun. Daughter had a great
time in her little raft
paddling around all the other boats. We'd come up from Ft. Belvoir.

But, all good things come to an end, and we had to take the boat back to
Ft. Belvoir. Keep in mind
that the captains of all these 35'ers had been guzzling beer all day! I
was never as afraid on a
boat as I was on that cruise back to Ft. Belvoir. Once was plenty.

Same thing here on the 4th of July in the Sacramento Delta. Baron Hilton
has a great fireworks show from his duck club. Went once. Too many
drunks, and stupid antics.
