I stand corrected.Â* I recently discovered that there is at least one
other"detention" center besides the two I mentioned in previous posts.
It's a smaller one in Texas, near the border where illegals who have
been rounded up are held until they can be transferred to one of the
other facilities.Â* Could be more of these, I suppose and the living
conditions are not as good as the bigger facilities.
My humble apologies.
No problem. I haven't seen a list and accompanying photos/videos of
every facility where these people are being stashed. I don't what what
the standards are for these facilities. I don't know how many kids
were separated from their moms or dads every month under previous
presidents and under Trump.
What I do know is that separating kids from their parents, siblings,
et cetera, is heartbreaking and presents Americans who really care
about how their country projects itself to them and to those outside
the country a true picture of the horrors of Trump & Thugs, Inc.
I know Trump thinks being tough on immigrants helps him with his base.
I don't think it will help him with anyone else, and anyone else is
still the majority in this country.
BTW ... with regard to another issue we discussed, I have learned that
indeed, there *is* a federal statute governing the separation of
kids and their parents in the detainee facilities.
The law says they cannot be separated for more than 72 hours.
As long as those kids who have parents are reunited before
then, the law is being followed.
I don't have any knowledge of how long they are being separated other
than one report that indicated they are "typically" reunited in two
days or less.
I've heard reports that a number of the kids are not returned within 72
hours. Again, we don't have real data. I've also heard that the federal
agents handling this matter claim they are being overwhelmed by the
tremendous number of kids being detained away from their parents, and
that in one facility there were only four social workers looking out
over these kids over a 24 hour period. This is a real stink bomb.
