Had my twice yearly checkup at the VA yesterday.
Felt pretty good. All my bloodwork results were
normal, kidney and liver functions "excellent"
and the results of a routine EKG indicated
heart function is also "excellent" according to
the Doc.
My only issue I had two years ago when I first started
going to the VA was elevated blood pressure.
At the time it was something like 140/93.
Not off the charts, but needed to be lowered.
So, I've been losing some weight slowly and have
been taking a low dose medication to help lower
the BP.
Yesterday, two tests indicated my BP as 124/72 and
120/70.
Not bad. Not bad at all for a 69 year old who hasn't
really been into doing everything in a "healthy" manner.
I figure tomorrow I'll go out and get hit by a bus. :-)
That 124/72 is about where mine is every time I take a physical. Yet, my doc persists in saying it's
a bit high and I should work on lowering it, like stop eating salt. I finally went through my
military medical records and found a physical from when I was 23 years old. Yup, blood pressure was
126/74. I gave him copy, and he's gotten off my ass.
