President-elect Joe Biden’s inaugural committee on Tuesday advised
Americans against traveling to attend his swearing-in ceremony and
related activities next month, instead rolling out initial public health
protocols for the quadrennial event and previewing a “reimagined” parade.
It gets him out of explaining why nobody would have showed up anyway.
He didn't win because people liked him. His only attraction is he
isn't Trump.
Absurd. Sans COVID, the inauguration turnout for Biden would have set
records, unlike the paltry turnout for Trump's inaugural. People *like*
Joe Biden, and they have for decades.
I'm sure "he's not Trump" was a motivator for many to vote for Biden,
and Biden beat Trump by 7,000,000 votes, a modern landslide, so there
were many factors underpinning Biden's victory. Trump was, is, and shall
remain an ignorant, hate-filled, flaming asshole whose "base" voters are
just like he is.
Landslide? Not when the population of the country is 400 million.
Obviously, you don't understand the term "landslide," either.
Trump's vote in 2020 was almost 10 million higher than Hillary got 4
years ago so there was something else going on.
It doesn't matter. There's only one winner, and Trump lost the popular
vote by more than 7,000,000 votes and the EC by 74 votes. The majority
of voters were motivated to put Biden, a decent man, in the White House,
and send Trump to the ****pile. Trump's finished as an electable
politician and if the GOP leadership has any brains, it will let Trump
slide slowly into the abyss where he belongs.
That is generally what happens to all former presidents, particularly
the one term ones. It has been a century since a former president has
subsequently held another office and that was Taft appointed to
SCOTUS. I don't see a Grover Cleveland there for Trump either.
