Default Launch spot on Susquehanna near Harrisburg?

Mike, many sporting goods shops will sell you the permit. Hit the PA boat
commission site and get a list of stores from them.

Thanks, but I aim to avoid the state fees, and it appears that I'll
be able to do so without much trouble. At least for now. An
emailer told me how to find boat ramps whose use doesn't require a
contract with the state of Pennsylvania. I'd much rather support
private enterprise and purchase a map that shows where such boat
ramps are than buy a temporary license for permission to use the
natural resource.

I did go to the Pennslvania Fish and Boat Commission site, and
noticed they're promoting legislation to significantly raise all the
boating fees in the state. I'm telling ya, the *******s will never
stop until they control every dollar and every inch of property.

I'm not a Pennsylvania resident, and tried to launch in the
Susquehanna from the East side Fort Hunter ramp last week, until I
read the billboard of regulations, some of which specified that even
non-powered boats that don't normally need to be registered were
required to be registered to use that ramp. I looked for another
launch site but missed a major turn and decided to forget it that
day. I'm headed back through there next week, and would like to
find a ramp or other launch spot, not too far from I-81, that
doesn't require trying to find the Pennsylvania Dept of Natural
Resources first.

Thanks in advance,
