Hi,
Can anyone suggest a one day trip for kayakers in the York-Kennebunk
Maine areas? We've done the estuaries and inlets around Drake's Island
Beach and are looking for more ideas.
Thanks
It was a long time ago and I wish I could remember the exact location of the
departure point...my wife and I went for our first paddle in York Harbor, it
was a guided tour from a place called Excursions on Route 1. We paddled
upstream along the south bank of the river for a while, crossed over to the
north shore and paddled out through the harbor and into the ocean. We
stopped on a lighthouse island for lunch. It's an interesting area, and
there didn't seem to be many large vessels to contend with, and it seemed a
pretty sheltered area. They aren't very helpful for trip planning, but I
took a couple of pictures:

I can't remember the location of the launch, other than it was located near
a high school in town. You can drive right down to it, it's a paved launch
ramp that goes into a small bay and from there you paddle out into the river
which has a bit of a current.
