The VX-150 is ham gear. The Auxiliary and CAP have been told in no uncertain
terms at the national level no more modified ham rigs on part 80 and Part 90
or NTIA controlled frequencies. I was one of those using a modified ham rig
who got caught in the rigid new policy. I loved my Yaesu VX-7R but it is not
allowed anymore. The HX-370S is a Vertex Standard Horizon product that meets
type 80 and 90 and is operator proof for the average boater without a
communications background. I hope this is just the first of many rigs coming
out with the wide frequency range and type approvals. We need a 25 watt
marine radio, not just handhelds.
