I'm not sure this directly concerns you, JimH- snip
Sure it does. Did you already forget your whopper of a lie when you
repeatedly accused me of being Skipper?
Let me assist you with one of the subtleties of the English laguage:
There is a difference between a lie and an observation:
A lie is a statement known to be untrue when made.
Example: "Chuck posted my home address and phone number to the
newsgroup! It was listed on that ad that he linked! He knew it was
listed on the ad, and that
was the only reason he posted it, to "out" my address and phone number!
The only reason it doesn't appear there if you check it now is that I
went into the website and edited the ad so my address and phone no
longer appear!"
When the ad never contained a home address and a phone number, and
there was no editing as claimed, that entire story qualifies as a
"lie". (As you finally admitted when explaining that you had been
"cornered" by your original false statement that the address and phone
number appeared in the ad).
Example: When "Skipper" reapears after a long absence and launches an
attack post with a line that reads,
"What do you think of this little gem?" and then brackets a quote with
a series of +++++++ marks top and bottom- and then when you use the
same opening line and the same brackets to offset a post several days
later, voicing a suspicion that JimH and Psuedo Skipper might be one
and the same is not a lie, it's an observation based on publicly
available evidence.
IIRC, somebody in the midst of that discussion said that opening post
with a reference to a "little gem" and then bracketing the quote with
++++++ signs had been a long standing personal trait of his.
Unfortunately, that party didn't furnish us with the name of the NG
where he routinely posts using that weird style. As far as I know, it
has only appeared in rec.boats twice- and only once by trhe party
involved. Assuming there is a NG where that party routinely posts with
a reference to a "gem" and then brackets quotes with +++++++'s, then
that statement would also be an observation, and not a lie.
