I have a copy of a water stained Navico 1600 Manual.

It is yours for the asking (I converted it into PDF format and is about 3.4
M in size.

My problem with this Tiller Pilot is that it seems to only like a beam
reach, 30 degrees off the wind and calm seas. I have tried it a few times in
Buzzards Bay, andhave been very disapointed. It's "failure" mode is to keep
hunting until the "actuating arm" unscrews itself frm the drive mechanism
and falls out.

My sailboat is a Hunter 27 and itself does just fine in 4 - 6 oot seas, but
anything over 2 feet and the Navico is problem. The problem with this
Hunter is that it does have a tendency to round up but I don't understand
why this should be a problem with the Navico? Perhaps the internal compass
gets confused?

Any other comments / experience with the Navico 1600 Tiller Pilot?
