DC is supposed to get only 8-12 inches. It's sticking to the trees now,
so
tomorrow should be pretty. Fixed a big pot of stew, got the fire going,
good to go all day tomorrow with the Olympics.

I have a JD tractor with a loader bucket, but it's a pain to clear the
driveway because you can't plow the snow to one side. You have to plow a
big pile of snow, then stop and pick it up with the loader and dump it
off to the side. I ordered a plow attachment, but it won't be in until
the middle of next week - too late for this storm. My driveway is long
.... comes in from the road, divides to go both ways around the horse
barn and up to the house. Total of about 1600-1800 feet by 15-20 feet
wide I would guess, maybe more. That's a lot of snow to move if there is
close to 2 feet of it.

You need a two stage blower, not a plow. A big one. Or a blower and a
plow. And a jeep with chains.

Actually, when I bought the tractor I also bought a big ass snow blower for
it that is powered off of the front PTO. I used it once. It is such a pain
in the rear to remove the loader bucket and hook up the snow blower
attachment that it just isn't worth it. The rear attachments (back hoe,
bush hog, etc. are relatively easy to change, but the loader isn't. I use
the loader all the time for lifting anything heavy, so leaving the blower on
for the winter really isn't an option. The blower was a mistake.
