Default looking to get a houseboat

My wife and I are looking into the house market BUT may be interested
in living on a houseboat instead of buying a land based house.

Asking all the houseboat owners.. is it better to live on a houseboat
or just go ahead and buy a nice house for 200,000?

What exactly do you mean by "houseboat"--a vessel...i.e, what amounts to
a floating RV or mobile home on pontoons or a barge hull with engines?
Or a permanently fixed real house built on a floating dock like the one
the Tom Hanks character lived in in "Sleepless in Seattle," also often
called a "houseboat?"
