Fish are a bit outside of his reptilian area of great expertise, but he was
no dummy with any zoology. It's very sad as he was a decent man and great
animal advocate. I hope his 8 year old daughter isn't told for many years
that he was working on a segment for *her* show when it happened.

A few years ago while vacationing in the Bahamas, myy sister got hit on
the ankle by a jellyfish. Went to ER and had to have an anti-toxin
administered, then a series of anti-biotics. She's ok, and can walk
fine, but still after about 6 years, has some soreness in here ankle
and a tough scar as well.

Stingrays never scared me even when we snorlked right over the big
ones. It was sharks that scared me but I tried not to think about em.
Sometimes we'd be just a couple feet above the big rays, some of them
were 6' across and it never occurred to me that they might do serious
injury as one did the Steve Irwin. We always figured that as long as
you didnt step on them you were safe.
Is meat tenderizer still the treatment for jellyfish stings?
I wonder if some people, such as those allergic to bee stings are more
susceptible to jellyfish stings.
