Default Boring boat stuff

Glad to hear from you again, Mike!

Just felt like sharing a happy haul-out story with all y'all. It was
time for new bottom paint, and we needed a place to hang the new solar
panels, plus install the Hydrovane self-steering vane, so off to the
Puerto Vallarta boat yard we went.

Will be interested to hear a report on how the windvane works.

So casual is this place, you get hauled and just wait a minute or two
and somebody walks up and offers to do your work.

It's not that they're casual, it's that they're poor.

.... This guy offered to sand, fill little blisters with epoxy,
sand again, put on two coats of paint for 4000 pesos. That's about
$375 American or so, and get 'er done over the weekend since we hauled
on a Friday.

Not bad. It's a little cheaper than around here, and of course no
environmental worries down there. If this guy was experienced and
planning to do it all himself, he would be very glad to get the work at
this price, prob'ly expected you to bargain him down.

It's true that the rail job went into Tuesday, but we were out of there
and back in our slip within 5 days for a couple of boat units. Not
completely sure, but I bet that would be some kind of record back in
the States.

Depends on where you are and how well you can plan ahead. It's nice to
not have it drag out & have costs driven up outrageously, which often
happens here even with good intentions.

Anyway, the weather is here, wish you were beautiful, and we're off the
dock tomorrow for at least 3 months. Yippee!

Thanks, I am beautiful. But I wish I was down there, it's been kind of
nippy lately and I'd welcome the chance to practice some Espagnol.
