Hi,
Well, those on rec.boats.cruising or http://www.bcboatnet.org know I'm
selling my beloved Catalina 36, Far Cove. Plan is to downsize, probably
to
an Islander 28. Problem is, I probably won't be buying the Islander
until
fall/winter. So: first summer in 30 years without a cruising sailboat???

I saw an Oday 22 on a trailer for $2800 ( complete with a $1000 CB
radio,
supposedly...
). Thought it might be fun to fix her up a bit,
gunkhole
around the Gulf Islands in her... reminds me of my first cruising boat,
a
Venture 22.
So: any Stories of Oday 22s? Are they really slower than a Columbia 22?

Seems high. I sold an Islander 30 about 10 years ago for $10k. Maybe
you
should look now for the Islander. The Islander was father in laws and he
passed away.
Interesting... two people have said $2800 is a lot to pay for this boat.
However, I can't find ANYTHING (that doesn't have it's side stove in from
a hurricane) for under $3K CDN. And this one comes with reasonable trailer
(Probably worth close to $1000) and a 9.9 Honda (at least $1000).
As for Islanders, I haven't found ANY in the PNW (where I can sail it up
to Vancouver), and it will cost $4000CDN to truck one up from CA (even
more from the East Coast). (That's from TWO independant quotes) I'm hoping
to find one at least in Seattle area, but most I find are East Coast, and
over $15K CDN. Another option is a Crown 28, which ARE relatively popular
here, but my Lady wouldn't like the head in the same "room" as the
forepeak where we sleep.
As for the "temporary boat": I'd love to find a Cal 25 (or even a
Catalina 22) for $2k (here) but it ain't gonna happen.

Sail the Islander up from Calif. Watch the weather window, and take a week
or two and have a nice sail.
