Normally don't care about these arguments but had to enter my 2
cents...
Jax states that the author clearly states there was a gas engine. The
quote he used was that the men were cleaning the plugs on the engine.
The quote did not sate spark plugs. My engine has other types of
plugs besides spark plugs. Jax's quote does NOT conclude a as engine
existed. It may imply but it does not clearly state. No I did not
read the book because I first heard the story from the movie and if I
read the book It would ruin the movie.

I have bought a 30 year old sailboat with an atomic 4 engine. It ran
last fall but was not properly winterized. How do I check it while its
in drydock? Thoughts on replacement if its cooked?
First go to www.sailnet.com and subscribe to the Atomic 4 mailing list --
lots of knowledge there
Then $pend $50 and get Don Moyers A4 Manual http://www.moyermarine.com/
Don is considered the guru of the A4 and is most helpful with everything
from free advice to a full rebuild.
You will learn to curse at it, skin knuckles, contort your body into
positions never thought possible, but in the end you will come to consider
your A4 to be an old reliable friend. There's a good chance the engine will
outlast you.
