Personally, I keep thinking we are asking too much of too few. These
soldiers are going into a war zone four and five tours. That just isn't
right in my book. As a country, if we are going to war, we should do it
as a country meaning everyone should roll the dice.
Going into a war zone has a lot of bennies for the soldiers. My daughter's
husband is thinking seriously of changing units just so he *can* go back.
Financially, it's a windfall. They would get a housing allowance, which
they don't get now, his military pay would be tax free, and the company he
works for would make up the difference in his mil pay and civilian pay.
The chances of getting killed or wounded in Iraq are very small and coming
down every day.
