Default How to build ice box?

Glen, Interesting claims and a nice internet web site. R and D today
must mean go out there and find something, then let the consumer see
if it will work in his application. As I have posted before I hope the
new product meets the test. The boaters that ask me for
recommendations are normally blue water cruisers and they need
equipment that has proven reliability in a marine application. To pass
my test the components used must have exceeded 100,000 accumulative
hours and the failure rate must not to exceed 0.5 per one thousand
hours in a marine aplication.

Hey Richard. Have you seen this? http://www.avxcel.com/tropikool.html

Looks like it has potential because the technology has been used for a
long time in spot cooling IR telescopes and space vehicles. Main thing
they have done is add a CO2 heat pipe to distribute the cooling but when
I called they could not give me any COPE, BTU/hr or other hard facts.
Probably not ready for prime time but looks interesting.

Generally speaking, Stirling cycle chillers aren't as efficient as a
Rankine cycle (phase change.) But they do allow you to get to a much lower
temperature.

Fewer parts most likely though, and (possibly) quieter operation. But
that's pure supposition.

There is now a technical Forum also on my web site at;
http://www.kollmann-marine.com
Much of the information for my books on boat refrigeration comes from
repairing systems and answering E mail questions about mobile
refrigeration. Every five years I have updated these books from the
information collected. As technical books need to be revised more
often than five years, my web site helps keep technical information on
refrigeration up dated. I hope this new Refrigeration Forum will help
with the exchange of current information about refrigeration and
problem solving.

books or web sides that would give me instructions what material to use and
