Whatever the deal was, it was set up long before President Clinton got
his plane tickets...

Well, because deals this big don't happen in 25 minutes in a room with
two men...

No airplane tickets were involved. The 737 was "donated" for the
mission. The process for the return of young women was initiated some
weeks ago when the North Koreans told the women they could be released
if President Bill came for a visit.

Clinton was trying to thaw relations with the North Koreans at the end
of his terms. Bush, of course, was too stupid to follow up...and the
situation between the two countries further deteriorated.

I have a feeling Bush isn't going to be called upon much for missions of
diplomacy...or anything else.
