Trip Planning
Getting ready for a few weeks in Florida.
I used to spend more time on this when we took the kids. Stuff like
blowup swim rafts, snorkeling gear, and limited space in the trunk.
Then, since we often ate at rest stops, you had your cooking gear,
coolers, etc, etc.
It was always quite a bit of work, but fun anyway.
Now I don't do much at all.
Even got my wife trained to pack small bags for different purposes.
Convinced her that lugging big suitcases into a motel is silly, and
they are hassle to make good use of trunk space.
More concerned about finishing my garage workbench project.
Got it all framed and just have to do the bench top and lower shelf.
And some painting.
My fishing tackle is easy to just toss somewhere in the car, and since
our wide-brimmed straw hats are unraveling, we'll pick up some new
ones down there.
Tossed out my bridge net a couple weeks ago, as it was getting rotten.
Won't miss it. Forgot to take it the last couple trips, and never
needed it. Think I used it once for a small shark.
Car is ready except for an oil change.
Sort of miss all that planning, which was a fun part of our trips.
But not too much.
Almost back to the days of living out of a seabag.
But not quite. Wives require baggage. No way around it.
