Sorry for the confusion. I was talking about spitting on your bus or
whatever. I don't think spitting qualifies.
OK, I was confused since you said:

As for spitting (legal term: expectoration) no, of course no one would
go to jail for that. And come to think of it, it may not be even a
misdemeanor. It might just be an infraction, which is one step down
from a misdemeanor. Much like a traffic ticket.
