I have no problem with Canada being our northern neighbor. I see them
as canon fodder for anyone trying to invade us from the north.

Agreed.

$250 from a person flush with cash isn't the same hardship as $100 from
someone with a lot less cash and has to do without something for doing it.

Bill Gates giving a million isn't the same as someone workign supporting
a family with very little extra cash at the end of the month asking the
family to cut back a bit so we can give $100.

And with 9 million people in such a small area, they need a lot more
than money. If someone fixed the cultural poverty and over population
issues 20 years ago....
