The areas in which these pirates operate is enormous. Obviously, more
countries need to participate in patrol and interdiction.
Yeah, over 500 mi from shore. obviously in int'l waters. I still say
that contract security would be the cheapest (and non-political)
option.
So, you get a cargo ship, load it with defensive weapons....
.....and use it as a mother ship for Pirates!!

Yikes! That could allow those mother
ships to just operate closer to the shipping lanes. Could lead to a
bunch of pretty well armed vigilantes too... I don't know, I am just
speculating.
