NYC Policemen and Firefighters, and Clergy are not invited to the
10th anniversary

of 9/11 at Ground Zero....."Because there's not room"... They weren't

invited on that day in 2001 either. THEY JUST SHOWED UP AND DID THEIR
JOB !

Hey Bloomberg, you are a real piece of crap....

go to hell!

The Muslim community center is neither a mosque nor at ground zero.

There, I fixed it, and as to the "Muslim Community Center", that remains
to be seen...

While it does seem that it will be a Muslim Community Center, what does
it matter if it is a mosque. This group is considered a moderate Muslim
community. As a society We need to encourage improved relationships with
Moderate Muslims. Their are approximately 7 billion Muslim in the world.
The vast majority, especially in the US, want nothing to do with
violence or terrorism. They want to take care of their family, enjoy
life, practice their religion and live in peace. The more we encourage
improved relationship with Muslims, Muslim Communities and Muslim
Countries the safer and more secure the US will be.

The anti Muslim sentiment around the world reminds me of the anti
Catholic and anti Jew sentiment that was and in certain parts of the
world still very common. If the Jews held all Christian responsible for
the actions of some Christians (at times the majority of Christians) we
would have to worry about both Jewish and Muslim terrorist.

As Rodney King said "Can't we all just get along".

You are completely missing the point, being paranoid. My problem is with
bloomberg, bloomberg supports some religious activity, but not others.
He is allowing Politicians to the ceremony, not Firefighters, Clergy and
Police. It is my opinion he makes these judgements and decisions with
nothing but politics in mind. It seems to be a pattern with bloomberg,
and has nothing to do in my mind with what you are assuming a problem
you think I have with "the Muslim community"..

I guarantee my personal feelings on the Community Center are not what
you think...

There were many Muslims who were killed in the WTC. Can you imagine the
uproar if a Muslim was allowed to lead a prayer? It seems that
Bloomberg's decision to focus on the families of those killed was a very
prudent and reasonable decision.

from the AP
The mayor's office says the annual event focuses on relatives of Sept.
11 victims and has never included clergy invocations. Bloomberg has said
it would be impossible to include everyone who would like to participate.

Evelyn Erskine, a Bloomberg spokeswoman, said the program was designed
in coordination with 9/11 families and included readings that were
"spiritual and personal in nature." Six moments of silence were planned
for personal reflection and prayer. Police and fire chaplains who work
with the 9/11 families will attend.

"Rather than have disagreements over which religious leaders
participate, we would like to keep the focus of our commemoration
ceremony on the family members of those who died," Erskine said.

Several New York religious leaders say they understand the mayor's
position. They point to the multitude of religious events surrounding
the anniversary as evidence faith isn't being overlooked. "I just think
a decision was made to give priority to the families. If this means more
families will be attending, I think all of us can accept that," said
Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, executive vice president of the New York Board of
Rabbis.
