You could also raise your dog as I do, no human food, ever. My dogs can
lay on the floor next to a turkey sandwich and never even realize it's
something to eat, much less touch it. Just sayin'. When you train a
puppy, remember anything you train him to do (like eat people food), he
will do when he get's older....


My Daughter taught our dog well. Every time he wants a treat he hovers
over the food bos and looks at us. He sits when we give it to him. He
drops it until we walk away before picking it up and eating it. If he is
hungry he points or other wise indicates the direction of the food box
and pops his mouth a little bit.
His idea of play is getting us to chase his toys. Tell him to go get
them and he plays dumb. When we brought our Daughter's cats to care for
a while, he went searching and found one of his toys and dropped in
front of the Cats. It was fascinating seeing him try to get them to
play.
