Interesting. That is where 802.11a WiFi lives but there is also a 5cm

You've got your KHz and MHz mixed up. :-)
These so called "numbers" stations have been boadcasting on shortwave
frequencies for years. Someone once used a direction finder to track
one of them down - turned out to be a restricted US Gov location in
Maryland.
Yup I caught that right after I posted it but I thought I would let
someone have fun correcting me ;-)
That "restricted site" wouldn't be the Puzzle Palace, at Ft Meade,
would it?

This was a long time ago and I don't remember all of the details. My
best recollection was that the "site" was just a fenced off field with
an unmarked buiding, antenna, chain link fence and the obligatory US
Govt no tresspassing sign. There was speculation that it might
belong to "No Such Agency" and used to distribute codes to field
agents but it was just speculation. The people who know about such
things are not given to talking about them.
