Took Kiya, our 'shelter hound' English Pointer to the vet yesterday to see about a 1/2 inch bump on
a rear leg. The bump was diagnosed as a mast cell tumor. She goes in today to get it, and about a
1/2 inch of flesh around the tumor, removed. Hopefully, the edges of the incised flesh will be
'clean'.
Keep fingers crossed. If a believer, a little prayer might be in order.
Our Lab, Buffy, had one of these also. She went for radiation treatments at North Carolina State for
a month. The radiation worked - she was free of mast cells for about seven years, when she was
finally downed by a nerve sheath tumor on her shoulder. Those things are horrendous.
we LOVE our doggies....best of luck....
Thanks, Bob. They took out a pretty good chunk yesterday. The incision is almost two inches long,
just below the knee. Hopefully, the margins will be clear. That would be great news. Won't know 'til
Wednesday or Thursday.
If the margins aren't clear, then we've got some tough choices to make.
Eh, just "thinning the herd" like hunting, no biggy.
No pets at your house? Not even a hamster or a cat?
