Hi!
Anybody out there have any pro's or con's on the garmin 168 unit?
Which antenna is better to use internal or external ? Does the blue
chart cd rom have a good intercoastal water way map? And is the
waterway cd-rom any good for intercoastal waterway's ? It's so
difficult to decide which unit to purchace. help!!
If there is a better choice for a plotter/sounder for the money I'm
open for suggestions.
Thanks
I have a GPSMap/Sounder 168 - as it is at the lower helm (in the
cabin), I chose buy the external antenna version, and installed the
antenna on the flybridge railing.
If your 168 will be out in the open, where the built-in antenna will
have a fairly clear view of the sky, the internal antenna version
would probably be acceptable. If the 168 is installed in an enclosed
cabin, where the sky view is obstructed, the external antenna version
would be preferred (with the antenna mounted out in the open. of
course.)
I haven't used the BlueCharts, so can't comment on them (I use a
charting program on a computer.)
