Great trip but I, also, would have trouble being on a plane that long.

In our first trip to Hawaii, before 9/11, we flew on a one stop from DC
to Minneapolis to Honolulu, and the only aspect that made it tolerable
was that we could walk around the plane and "gather" and stand around at
the rear of the cabin with the cabin attendants and talk with everyone.
We brought our own snacks and drinks and nobody gave a damn about it.
Hell, I brought a soft-sided cooler aboard.It was a pretty jolly flight.
Our second trip was a couple of years ago, and the flight was grim,
grim, grim because of the changes brought about by 9-11.

If we go again, it'll be with a stopover on the Left Coast, a night in a
hotel, and continuation the next day.

My wife wants to go to New Zealand but I think I would have to make
that a 3 leg trip maybe walking around for a day or two on the left
coast and again in Hawaii

That trip is short listed. Probably SFO to Tahiti then to NZ. Then
probably to OZ then back via Hawaii. Trying to cash in American Airlines
miles for Business class tickets, but seems to be impossible.
