Probably true, but it's probably not a cause for alarm either. It is
highly improbable that they are doing it to dry up the supply or some
other nefarious goal. DHS takes in a lot of territory and a lot of
armed personnel - USCG, US Customs & Border Patrol, FBI, Secret
Service, BATF, TSA, etc. My guess would be several hundred thousand
armed employees. That many people can burn through a huge amount of
ammo in training and practice. I've been anchored a few times within
hearing distance of the NYPD range in the Bronx. Over the course of
a day it sounds like there is a major war going on, including
automatic weapons fire. That's from less than a couple of hundred
cops at any given time.
