We have a baby due to arrive and so there is much pressure for us to
purchase a digital camera.

Well, ok, but only if I can take it paddling!

Has anyone had any experience with waterproof digitals that they might
share please?

I am a professional photographer in addition to an avid kayaker and for
the consumer use and even my own use, I bought the Canon A40 digital
camera and the companion waterproof case. That camera is discontinued in
Canon's line but still available perhaps thru ebay. It is a 2.1 MP
digital but takes wonderful photos and the waterproof case is exactly
designed for the camera so every button on the camera has a
corresponding button on the outer case. I HIGHLY recommend the
combination.
