Default Yamaha Outboard questions

Give one of the West Marine or other supply store a
call. They can probably tell you.

What type of oil does this engine use in the crankcase? weight?

The dipstick has a crosshatched area about 4 inches long, but no marks

to
indicate like a car dipstick to say what is full and what is one quart

low.
Should the oil be all the way to the top of the cross hatch area?

thanks!

Don't know. Have you tried Yamaha's website?( www.yamaha.com )

The website is basically useless. yamaha makes great motors, but they are
notoriously horrible as far as customer support.

The same oil that you put in your car. Or you can buy some really
expensive marine oil that works the same, but costs $5 a quart.

*WHAP* (That was the sound of the cluestick hitting you.)
