As promised...info from a reputable source that shows Billy Jane, Mooron and
Donal for the fools they are. Remember, we entered Port Jeff for the first time
ever late at night. We had our charts. We had GPS and we had radar.
We also had the following info from: The Cruising Guide to the New England
Coast: Norton Books publisher.

"In approaching Port Jefferson from any direction, it is wise to keep offshore
and watch the chart carefully, as there are outlying rocks and shouls. The
entrance is narrow and there is apt to be a strong tidal current in or out. An
experienced cruising man warns that:
Sometimes a really dangerous sea makes up outside and between the jetties on
the ebb tide. Entering is possible at all times, providing some care is taken.
Another experienced cruiser feels this is too strong a statement. Suffice it to
say, treat it with respect."

Seems like we practiced safe navigational practice by observing this info.
Tada!!!! So, as you can see, Billy Jane knows nada! Mooron hitched his tow rope
to the wrong star and Donal got dragged down by the undertow!

You're welcome!!! Bwahahahahahahahahahahaaha!!

Those must be the shoals and rocks clearly indicated on the chart and
referenced by your vessel's GPS and Radar location showing you in detail how
close you are? Whatever do you do when you encounter a moving hazard... like
another vessel??? Panic and pull doughnuts???

Geez... it must be really narrow if you had to take "several passes" just to
find it!!! ?? So only really skinny boats get in to Port Jefferson eh? Must
also be some tidal surge to restrict access!!! Guess that's what helped keep
you ...offshore!!!??

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh this is way too funny.... a 'sea' builds up!!!! Where are you Bob??...
offshore? Between two jetties... which of course must be lit! Radar! GPS!...
claims to have a chart! Can't give the distance between the "jetties"..
doesn't have a clue how far out the foul ground is! Relies on a Cruising
Guide and quotes it for navigational information because he can't figure it
out himself!!!

Seems like you didn't have a clue as to what you were doing and luckily
enough had sufficient electronic back-up to assist in helping you find a
well lit channel!! I sure wish I had a scan of this "chart" you were using!

Ha Ha Ha Ha

| You're welcome!!! Bwahahahahahahahahahahaaha!!

Thank You once again for proving my point that you don't have a clue about
navigation or sailing.... I could have done that drunk... without a GPS!

| Good for you Bubbles.
| You showed prudent seamanship.
| The others, well, they're accidents waiting to happen.

Prudent for someone that knows absolutely nothing about sailing or operating
a boat. It's a wonder he didn't call Sea tow to escort him in!

It's a good thing he could blame it all on his wife.... what a low life!

And that's that. Proven wrong with absolute finality, Mooron lacks the
integrity to even come forward and be a man about it. Too bad.

And while I'm making my victory lap....

....lsailed in flukey winds yesterday with a friend who's done quite a few
crossings and sailed all of the world. Told him about our little weekend trip
and he was impressed that Suzanne handled the nav (her 1st time) for a night
entrance to Port Jeff. He said that he's never entered at night without taking
good care due to the heavy chop often encountered and many lights that line up
"in a bad way."
Congrats again to my wife! Sorry, Mooron. That's who you've really been
attacking and you've been proven wrong through and through. Billy Jane was
either dead wrong or never even sailed into Port Jeff at night. I doubt he has,
seeing how he daysails.
See you in Norwalk this weekend, Jane!

Bwahahahahaha!

I haven't commented about the method of your entry to Port J.

However, now that you bring it up, what time was high water on the night
that you went there?

Bubble will eventually become a good sailor if he doesn't become
overconfident like some here.

Rubbish!

When I started posting here, my experience was similiar to Bobby's.

Four years later, and Bobby finally gets round to a 45 mile daysail !!!!!

In another four years he might (although I doubt it) work up the courage to
sail out of LIS.

I sailed my Catalina 27 along the Jersey coast in harsh late november cold more
than 6 years ago. I also sailed it to Huntington in the snow! Took Ghost
further than the Thimbles last year.
Sorry! You lose again! And we're homing in on a far better boat than
yours...and faster!

Bwahahahahaha! You must be DYING!!!

We are talking Port Jefferson on the LIS here. It's not tricky in the
slightest.
It's probably the most popular tourist trap for boaters on the entire LIS.

Funny, there was very few transients there! Most of the guest moorings were
open.
