![]() The Captain...cap n all wrote in message ... On Sat, 8 Nov 2003 01:43:05 -0000, "Donal" OK, you know those balls with the 'lightning' flying around inside them? You know what happens when you put yor hand near the ball. Hopefully the ball is an insulator! Now go away and think about it. As you are so superior, why don't you just explain it? I'm astonoshed that MC puts up with your smugness. Doug would have simply answered the bloody question. You are clever. I am a complete idiot. Now, why don't you tell me about static on the VHF? Regards Donal -- |

Doesn't solder corrode?
"Scott Vernon" wrote in message ... "Martin Baxter" wrote I'd suspect a bad ground somewhere, remove and clean all connections, replace same and tighten well. Are you using any of those automotive type crimp on connectors? Of course. You prefer soldering? SV |

Coronal discharge of the antenna tip or failure to provide a dc path from
the antenna "hot" to "cold". Earth ground or water ground does very little for a VHF radio. The whole rig can "float" and work great. RB, CB handle: Jabba "Martin Baxter" wrote in message ... Scott Vernon wrote: While listening to Uncle NOAA the other night, my radio started cutting out, intermittently. Reaching for the radio, as I touched the mike cord the radio worked fine. When I let go, static. then the next morning, it seemed to work just fine. Someone suggested a bad ant. gound (?). What do you think? Scotty I'd suspect a bad ground somewhere, remove and clean all connections, replace same and tighten well. Are you using any of those automotive type crimp on connectors? Cheers Marty |

Good God!

Simon:
You are the only one with a clue in this thread. The rest are brainless dunces! RB "Simple Simon" wrote in message ... It's got nothing to do with grounding. It's got to do with masking interference from static buildup which can even travel across plastic. S.Simon "Donal" wrote in message ... "Scott Vernon" wrote in message ... If so, I wouldn't think that touching it could affect the ground plane. Regards Donal -- |
