Default Hey Doug:some IACC yachts powered up.

Warning! Not for people why don't like big boats that race with more
than 10 degrees heel.

Nice shot.

Prada in the background is at about 32 degrees. Alinghi is heeling much
much less, the mast is hidden so can't really tell.

22 degrees.

29 degrees.

I think you need to get your protractor calibrated. Only one boat heeled
more than you said, one close (and that was at an angle that exaggerates
heel angle) and one not even.

If you were to look at 100 end-on shots of IACC boats racing, I think
you'd find that the average heel angle is closer to 15 than 30. But what
do I know?

Are you aying the Kiwi shot is not a baot powered up?

Yes but when the boat is not close to max design speed is it really
powered up?

Considering that it was losing, probably not as much as the other boat.

So, you're saying that IACC boats make their best speed at 30 degrees of
heel? I would be surprised if that were true.

Doug you need medical help. That's a picture of Alenghi. Don't you know
the nationalities of the crew members?

Don't try to put words into my mouth. The IACC yachts are fastest
downwind -as you should know.

Ah, the one where they're setting the spinnaker pole? Do you know what
that entails? Getting the crew out of their normal position, ie heeling
a bit more than desired.

So, why do I "need medical help?" Is it that you just can't resist
insulting those who disagree with you? Or is it that I damage your
fragile ego by disproving your points all too well?

Lets see your email exchange with Phil Bolger. Maybe *that* will prove
how much "medical help" I need!

So are they "powered up" downwind, at lesser angles of heel, and greater
speed? Or does "powered up" have nothing to do with speed? At first you
said that it did.

A big part of the problem is that you can't seem to state the situation
clearly and consistently.

All to well? Isn't that delusional? If you won't seek medical advice
then so be it. Don't say I didn't try to help you.

Why do you say that. I think the pictures, my descriptions all show That
I am talking about going to windward.

It is you that is confused. Tell us, do you think winglets are important
going down wind in an IACC yacht? If you wan't to talk about it let's
start a new thread.
