Baby Seats and Boats
Well...not sure if anyone has any tips on this one. I'll be a father shortly
and I'm looking to buy a good baby seat that will also function on the boat. Anyone have any tips or are they all essentially workable on board? Thanks, RB |

What's this world coming to, he's reproducing, we can only hope the babies
got the mothers genes. Well...not sure if anyone has any tips on this one. I'll be a father shortly and I'm looking to buy a good baby seat that will also function on the boat. Anyone have any tips or are they all essentially workable on board? Thanks, RB |

Do you really want the baby affixed to the boat when it begins to sink? Let mom hold the kid in the cabin until he/she's able to wear a life jacket and occupy a seat in the cockpit. Max |

I wouldn't bother with a baby seat. If something happened, you wouldn't
have time to get the baby out of the thing. Most people I know put crib bumers up in their v-berths and use one of those expandable child gates across the front. You will want to make sure there is enough padding around the baby so it doesn't get rolled around...if you didn't want to do that, you could do the same thing inly in the quarter berth or aft cabin area...the idea of a child in a carseat going overboard and sinking to the bottom is just way too vivid for me.... -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. You'll find its tedious to properly install a babyseat in the car - get a second
one for the boat. Since the demand on the boat is much less, you could get an older one at a yard sale for virtually nothing. Hopefully your new dodger gives sufficient cover; lash the seat against the bulkhead. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Well...not sure if anyone has any tips on this one. We knew some cruisers from France who netted off the v-berth, made a great
play pen. Seahag "katysails" wrote : I wouldn't bother with a baby seat. If something happened, you wouldn't have time to get the baby out of the thing.
