My first reaction was... Crying Pussies..... you lay face down and
remain on patrol. Screaming and acting like bait will get you eaten in the ocean. Those rigs have built in buoyancy control, you'd have at least 500 to a 100 lbs of air left and have snorkel and mask with fins. That's a half hour to an hour air time under if "skipping". Jelly fish can't penetrate the suit. The safety strobe required for open ocean dives would easily confuse or repel an inquisitive Porbeagle, Blue, Thresher or White Tip..... those are basically the pelagic species of open water. None of which has man on the menu. A six foot fish swimming at the surface is not standard fare for shark nor sea monsters. There is no way you could figure a scenario on a modern dive boat that wouldn't have a diver count before and after the trip. The dive master is responsible for his wards. You signal below and again on surfacing. It was based on a real life scenario where a person diving solo lost their boat. He was rescued 2 days later by a passing boat..... 8 miles from shore... an easy swim if he had a clue.
