heading my way :

locals haven't lost their sense of humor:

"I heard the news call Charley a left punch and Frances called a
right jab. To me that means that Ivan looks like its going to be a
quick sharp kick in the nuts."

About all they can do if they live on the west coast, current predicted path
shows it going right back up there. I would finish by saying that it looks
like Ivan's going for a ko.

Roy, have you evacuated or are you sitting it out on your boat?

Boats are centered in canal in a spider web of long lines. separate
cache of hurricane provisions in boat & in house(mobile home) . I
live in low lying area, 8' surge will be about waist deep. Separate
cache of water/food/cooking/generator 10 miles away @ 15' elevation.
car fueled ready to run to mainland worst case senario, its keeps
favoring its most westerly track of the five models. Key West is
empty not much remains open, florida city reported 1000 cars an hour
evacutaing.

5 day predictions do not seem nearly as accurate as the three day,
last weds forecast looked bad for us, todays is much more
favorable.......

Those folks down in Florida need a break. Sound like Roy (it's Capt.
KeyWest, right?) has the right idea to secure the boat, it's just as
well to be prepared.

Right now it looks like H. Ivan is moving further and further west, may
not even hit the States.

Since when? Apalachicola and Panama City (Florida) aren't in the "States"?

You really do need to think before you type...Ivan's even heading towards the
western end of NC. I guess that's not in the "states" either?

You need to look up the definition of the word "may."

As of this morning it looks more probable that H. Ivan will hit Yucatan.
It's too far west to have much chance of hitting any part of Florida.
