Huge whale migration.
So tell me...what happens once the whales are back to levels
where the Derwent is one solid mass of whales, sinking small boats and a threat to larger shipping? where the Derwent is one solid mass of whales, sinking small boats and a threat to larger shipping? (1830s) Whales will begin attacking boats again (Melville, 1851), and small boat numbers will begin to shrink. Hopefully some environmentally conscientious whales will begin to enact laws to protect the small boats during their migrations, and their numbers will be preserved for future generations of whales to enjoy. Of course, Japanese, Russian and Aleutian whales may reserve the right to hunt boats in small numbers to protect their way of life. |

"Out of the blue, the killer whale arrived right in front of the
boat," he says. "Just came around right away, hit the rudder really hard, broke my steering, disabled me and started to toss me around." "Just came around right away, hit the rudder really hard, broke my steering, disabled me and started to toss me around." Yeah, that's what I'm sayin'. There have been a bunchof pictures posted here of a whale attacking the steering of boats named "Ghost" and "Alien." Apparently it jumped right into the cockpit and began munching on the wheel. Don't think it was a "killer" whale though, it looked like some sort of scraggly-bearded flounder-type whale. DSK |
