Spent 3 hours today buffing and waxing a friend's
Bristol 34. He says it hasn't looked that good
since it was new (1977). The plus side is that it
goes back in the water tomorrow and will be there
for me to use all winter.
On another note, does anyone have first hand
experience with a Quest 33?

Aha! Decided against the Cape Fear 38? Anyway, I've sailed a Quest 30...
it's a hoot. It sails much a like a Johnson 18, big surprise... doesn't
like to pinch, very nice handling but not much feedback on the helm,
accelerates unbelievably when it gets what it likes.

We went on the Q33 at the boat show and it's about twice as roomy as the
30. It's one of the best built boats I've checked out, although not as
luxurious as say an Oyster... all the details are *properly* done. I
asked Barrett Holby if he'd make a lift-keel model and he said "sure, if
you got the money" without skipping a beat. He's not much of a salesman
type, but he builds some very cool boats. These days he's taken to
building motorboats to pay the rent.

3 hours waxing and buffing sounds almost as fun as we had doing our last
race of the season today. Cold, raw, a little rain and a little wind.
I've been on the Quest 33 and could put you in touch with a friend who's
buddy was building the boats.

Do you think he used the Grinder to polish?

Thom, are you trying to start trouble? I used my
Milwaukee variable speed sander/polisher with
Meguiar's soft buff pads. The only problem is
that the Milwaukee is a heavy machine.
