I bet the AARP membership drops by 55% this year.....

You're prolly right. Hitler used the same tactics successfully to get
elected.

BTW Capt. Elliot of the Swiftboat group was the commanding officer on
the USS Samuel Gompers AD-37 the same ship I served on. He's an
honorable man. Your just upset because he is not gay.

I don't know Capt Elliot but there in nothing honorable about the Swiftboat
PAC or their tactics. For all either of us knows Elliot is gay. After all
they just outed Lincoln. Is that why you like him?

Geeeee we know Ossma the turd is trying to buddy up to Al Zawari.

We know Saddams men meet with AlQuedia members. And Terrorist training
camp were in Iraq.

No, we do not. Just the opposite. We know al Qaeda asked for camps and
Saddam refused. That's in the 9/11 report. If you have better evidence
please provide it.

I saw many cheering crowds, like the day that gawd ugly statue was torn
down in downtown Bagdad. snip

Yes, but now what kind of people have these cheering crowds elected?
Secularists committed to freedom? NO! They came in a distant third! They
elected radical Shiite Muslims with strong ties to Iran - men dedicated to
an "Islamic democracy" just like Irans wherein the elected officials serve
the ayatollahs and mullahs. They wouldn't know freedom if it hit the in the
ass.

So, what will we have achieved? We will have replaced a secular
dictetorship with a popular theocracy. If one practices strict Shiia Islam,
one will be more free than under Saddam. Otherwise, otherwise. Thats why
Sunnis are fighting back and Christians are fleeing in droves. Will this
new government allow al Qaeda camps? I dunno -- does Iran?

Freedom to chose is better than a Dictatorship.

Why you ask. Because most people want to do well and prosper. Everyone
deserves the chance to determine his or her own destiny. I have faith
in true democracy. Look what it did for Japan and Germany.

Yes, really. Those of us who are old enough remember when Lebanon was a
relatively stable and vibrant financial center, with an effective power
sharing arrangement among the three principal religious groups, standing
in sharp contrast to most of its neighbors. The arrangement was upset as a
result of the change in its demographics following the '67 Arab-Israeli
war.

Well, I remember Eisenhower sending the Marines to Lebanon. ;-) I'm not
disputing what you are saying, but unfortunately, that was quite some time
ago. Perhaps, I overstated Lebanon's historical disarray. Then again,
those that consider Lebanon's current situation a boon for democracy, are
discarding the facts. A ex-Prime Minister's assassination, a mob in the
streets, and a Druze leader who won't leave his mountaintop for fear of
being a target, does not bode well for democracy. Having watched
Lebanon's recent history, I wish the Lebanese well, but they have a long
slog ahead of them, before they reach their former "stable and vibrant"
status.
