Winterized the boat on Saturday. ;( That is a sad day. Why not just move south? OTOH I spent some hours this weekend getting the Webasto furnace on the boat readied. Not quite the same thing. Winterized the boat on Saturday. ;( I'm glad I took care of that when we hauled a few weeks ago - its been in the twenty's a few times here in the AM. Now all I have to do is find a berth for next season - our home for some years is finally getting dredged. This is a big deal because the bottom is thoroughly polluted, and they're removing all the crud down to the red clay, then capping it over. Many millions to heal the wounds of several centuries of abuse. My boat is at "ground zero" and work is likely to begin in May. |

Whats worse is Nutsy and his puppets will be back in full force
tommorow...... yeah I winterized my boat to. Removed the wheelhouse AC and stowed all the shade canvas. Suppose to be 77 degrees turkey day with a low of 53. Looks to be perfect sailing and anchoring out weather. Joe |

I want one. I looked at the Espar heaters at
the boat show, and the Dickenson diesel heaters. The Espars were pricey but cleaner installations and had a draw on the batteries, while the Dickenson required a flue that would tend to get in the way on deck--prices were much more reasonable. Almost exactly the same, except that Espar seems to specialize in air heaters; we put in a Webasto because I wanted to to use seperate radiators for each compartment... like the head, who wants to go into a freezing cold head compartment and try to get any business done? Not me! The Dickinson type are a lot easier to install as well as being cheaper but they only heat up the immediate surroundings... I think you can put a hoop over the top of the exhaust to keep lines from catching the exhaust head. Not perfect but it beats freezing! Fresh Breezes- Doug King |
