The stern light on the 35s5 is cause for impound!
It looks like it may not meet the 12 point standard, but it certainly does not meet the 2 mile visibility! The stern light is only 18 inches above the water, even less when the boat rocks. How far is the horizon from 18 inches above the water? Find out at: http://www.boatsafe.com/tools/horizon.htm That's only 1.4 miles!!! That light can't shine out to 2 miles because of its low height! At 2 miles: Submarine periscopes can't see it! Flying fish can't see it! Sea lions can't see it! It does not meet the 2 mile USCG and International Specification!!!! Vanity before safety! Glory! |
