ASA in a Drought
The pond is suffocating it's inhabitants... in this the seasonal drought.
While the pond evaporates the tiny world of these desperate inhabitants, some like the Bobfish have dug deep into the mud and encased themselves for hibernation. Meanwhile the remaining few school ever tighter... biting at anything in effort to stay alive. Good Grief Guys.... 6 bites on a baseball troll?????? Tsk Tsk Tsk... CM |

...some like the Bobfish have dug deep into the mud... Heh heh... CM you've certainly got a way with the words... in this particular thread. :-) The pond is... Rather boring (but still informative)here of late. Hmmm... Could it be like the old blues refrain goes "It's a lonely old town... when your(Bobfish)not around." Course it's a given... that Rob is out there in cyber space lurking... and enjoying all of this. Bill |

Possibly not. There was a major boatyard fire... Wow... Tnx for the "heads up"! Assuming his pride and joy (Heart of Gold) really exists... it's sudden and un- expected demise would be a sad situation indeed. Hopefully... someone in this NG may be able to ferret out more information and/or Rob himself will respond. Best regards Bill |

Historic yacht club on City Island burns down March 10, 2006, 12:20 PM EST NEW YORK (AP) _ A historic yacht and beach club on City Island overlooking the Long Island Sound was destroyed by a fire that burned for more than four hours on Friday. The fire was reported at 1:30 a.m. at the Victorian-era Morris Yacht and Beach Club, which was not occupied because of the hour, and eventually went to four alarms. Eleven firefighters suffered minor injuries. The Fire Department said the cause of the fire was under investigation. "It was a real part of the community," said yacht club member Steve Lott. "It's one of the great buildings of City Island (with) a lot of history." He said it served "the maritime industry and just boating and yachting of the area." The private club was open to boaters and nonboaters alike. Located on the tip of the Bronx's City Island, overlooking Long Island Sound and Eastchester Bay, it comprised of a wood-frame three-story mansion built in 1850 and 400 feet of waterfront. The mansion was frequently used for catered events including weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs and banquets. Club member Bob Lachman called it "a great club (with) beautiful grounds." "They had all kinds of affairs there," he added. Fordham University Sailing Team stores its fleet of boats a short distance from the club's beach, and Columbia University's Sailing Team at the City Island Yacht Club is nearby. Yeah, it'd be a real shame. Scotty... you got a good point there. Think of what we would have to go through (again)when he acquires a replace- ment. -------------------------------------------------- Since some of the preceeding posts had to do with WX con- ditions here's mine: I live between Barstow and Victorville, California, and it just now starting to snow! Which is rare for these parts. Chilling out... (literally) :-) Bill Note: To the others... tnx for the news reports/sites. |

Such a ****** you are for not thanking me... Blondie... Please except my apologies for the impersonal response/credit. That is usually not my style. Sometimes my brain does not stay in cadence with my typing fingers. Also I was thinking in the plural... when in fact you were the only respondent with the details. Thanks again for taking the time to extract the fire "info" and hopefully Mr. Rob's boat was not involved in what apparently was only a single structure type fire. Best regards Bill |

Hell CM,
I don't know what you're reading but I'm enjoying an awful lot of what's being posted. Hell, CM; I think it's about time you brought a round. We have to keep Lloyd primed. He's on a roll, don't let him run down. His City Island YC Fire is a Classic! Don't think Nutsy can match it. He'll have to come up with a humdinger of a LIE to match that post. How 'bout it Kate? Think the group is doing OK for late Feb/early March? Ole Thom |
