Default Centerboard Mistake

Joe,

When I was a Kid. Way back in Depression Years. Had a good Friend
converted a "Lightning" to a cruising boat and it was the damnist
convert I'd ever seen. He put a shelter cabin with two bunks and a
Coleman stove

I bring it up because I thought he'd be full of water all the time. Was
I wrong! when it got rough, he'd lift that centerboard and give up to
Leeway and just seemed to slide side-ways over the waves, It was a dry
boat and if it got to bad, he'd sail it into the beach and wait it out
in the cabin.
