It was a trick and well worded question, you failed BTW..and you are
suppose to have a ticket.

One can figure all things associated with drowning fits in the causes
of death from sinking...simple logic. Same cause, sinking.

Fire is next.

Fiberglass burns like oil soaked rags once it get going. And that black
smoke...man what a danger.

Well done Sterling! you get 8 ASA points for that one.

Except he's completely WRONG!

You asked what was the most deadly AFTER sinking.

Fires on board causing loss of life are BEFORE sinking on the list of what
kills
people at sea.

And you are a lubberly idiot if you think you can't die from a fire on a
steel
hulled boat.

If I understand correctly, what he actually meant was something like: What
is the NEXT most deadly thing to sailors at sea, after sinking. Like, not
"most deadly" in a temporal context following the sinking of one's boat, but
"next most deadly, assuming sinking is the most deadly".

Being a 'grammer Nazi' of high repute, I naturally answered his question in
good faith, taking the ship's drill clue to mean liferaft drill, and
concluding that, as one proceeds through the temporal domain following the
sinking of one's boat, one is most likely to die from a lack of staying
afloat (death being attributable to a lack of gills).

Sorry Joe, but it was not worded well. And, it has nothing to do with the CG
exam.

What ticket do you have?

Seems IIRC fire fighting is on the exam, but I never sat for anything
less than a 100 T.

BTW did you know that Oz is just a tad smaller than the

USA if you
exclude Alaska (doesn't everyone).

Did you include Hawaii?
Why exclude Alaska?
Why not exclude TX and FL then?
Why not just say, Oz is bigger then the Eastern half of USA?

You lose, try again.
